ZTW students take part in workshops led by DG TRAD Romanian translator

The students enrolled in the Diskursanalyse und Textdesign für unterschiedliche Textfunktionen, Textsorten und Medien Rumänisch course, part of the Transkulturelle Kommunikation BA program, took part in two workshops taught by Sabina Tcaciuc, a translator of the European Parliament DG TRAD Romanian Translation Unit. Students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with various types of documents specific to this European institution such as amendments, draft opinions, and final reports. They also closely analysed the linguistic features and conventions of two types of text, namely petitions and Parliamentary questions, an activity followed by translation into Romanian. These activities allowed them to apply elements of discourse analysis acquired during the semester, as well as perform specific research, terminological look-ups, and translate authentic and up-to-date texts. Information about current internships at the European Parliament was also provided. We would like to thank Ms Tcaciuc and the Romanian Translation Unit, and we are looking forward to continuing this collaboration.
