Master's Thesis Submission Procedure

Submit the Thesis Electronically for Plagiarism Check

Once your supervisor has confirmed that the thesis is ready for submission, upload the thesis electronically for a plagiarism check via u:space. Please ensure you do not submit the thesis without explicit approval from your supervisor. After a successful upload, you will receive an upload confirmation.

Please carefully check the data in u:space that will be printed on the title page. These details are taken directly from the database of the University of Vienna and include your name, the academic degrees you have already obtained, and information on the supervisor. Please do not use a title page that you have created yourself, as this will not be accepted during the formal check.

For data protection reasons, no CV or sworn statement should be included in the thesis.

Please note that the thesis should include an abstract in both German and English, with each abstract being at least 500 characters long.

Plagiarism Check Report

The report of the plagiarism check is forwarded to the Directorate of Studies, who checks it manually.

Please do not submit your thesis for printing until you have received a confirmation (email to your u:account) that the plagiarism check has been successfully completed.

Submission of Hard-Bound Copy

After you have received a notification that the plagiarism check has been successful, please submit two hard copies of your thesis to SSC. The hard copy should be printed on both sides and hard-bound.

In addition to the two hard copies of your thesis, you should submit the so-called Master’s thesis folder, available upon request from SSC (ssc.translationswissenschaft@univie.ac.at), containing all the necessary documents:

  • Request for Assessment of the Master's Thesis (Ansuchen um Beurteilung der Masterarbeit)
  • Exam Pass
  • Confirmation of Electronic Submission of the Master's Thesis
  • Current Student Record Sheet (Studienblatt)
  • Transcript of Records (Sammelzeugnis)

The Master's thesis is assessed by the supervisor. The assessment can take up to two months from the submission of the printed version of the thesis. Students will be informed by the SSC when the assessment has been completed.
